Calling all deer managers and landowners in the Appin Deer Forum area! The Appin Rainforest Regeneration project has just launched a deer management incentive scheme to help support you with increased deer culling. The  Incentive Scheme runs from 1st October 2026 until 15th March 2027.

One of the key objectives of the rainforest project is to reduce the impacts of deer on rainforest regeneration and support the recovery of native woodland habitats. As part of this work, the deer management incentive scheme is being trialled to encourage increased deer management and support higher levels of deer culling across the Appin area.

The scheme recognises that achieving increased levels of deer management can result in additional costs for landowners and deer managers, including the time and resources required to undertake additional culling.

The incentive payments are therefore intended to help offset these additional costs and reduce the financial burden associated with increased deer management, supporting landowners and deer managers in contributing to the wider objectives of rainforest restoration.

Drop in sessions

We are hosting 2 drop-in sessions in Appin Village Hall. Come along and meet Innis, our Deer Management Lead - he can answer any questions you might have about the incentive scheme and help you download and navigate the cull recording app.
