Greetings from all at the surgery

As we slowly ease out of lockdown I thought it would be helpful to provide an update of how things are progressing with the practice.

Firstly I would like to thank all those who have been involved in collecting and delivering medication during this difficult time. Without their considerable efforts, keeping people safe would have been much more difficult. Volunteers are still happy to continue with this service so please use it if you wish. If you prefer to collect medication from the surgery please do so between 2 and 4 pm if possible. Strict limits on access to the building are in place so please be prepared to wait outside if necessary

We are still greatly limiting our face to face encounters with people, so all contact is done by phone initially. If you wish a consultation please phone as early in the day as you can. You will be allocated an appointment to be conducted by phone, or video if you prefer. Please make sure you are available at the number you provide, and we will endeavour to call as close to the allocated time as possible. It is remarkable how many consultations can be concluded in this way, sometimes aided by emailed photos, but if a face to face assessment is required we will arrange a suitable time and location for this.

If you have any concerns about your health please get in touch and we will find a way to assess your problem as required.

If you received a letter prior to lockdown asking you to book a smear test please contact the surgery now as Dr Kate Macgregor is starting to do these again.

Our online services have now moved fully to the new system which links directly with your medical record. I know there have been considerable connection problems for some people, but I hope that is all ironed out now. Repeat medication can be ordered using this system.  Sometimes one or more of your medications maybe marked as unavailable. This usually means that the approved number of repeats has been issued and the GP needs to check that it is appropriate for this to continue (a process we call reauthorizing). If this happens, simply request the medication in the notes section and we will sort it out. Using this system you can also book appointments – currently just phone consultations, but in time the appointment system will open up as before.

Finally a bit of good news is that we now have a nurse to help out in the surgery. In response to the Covid pandemic, Clare Howarth reinstated her nursing registration and after suitable training has now joined us as a Health Care Assistant.   She is also doing some work with the community nursing team so may be seeing some people in that capacity too.
